A healthy diet can improve fertility for men and women by keeping weight within an optimal BMI range (19-25) and ensuring adequate nutrition for conception and a successful pregnancy.

We recommend that female patients start taking a folic acid 0.5mg daily supplement a month before starting treatment and continuing whilst trying to conceive and for the first twelve weeks of pregnancy.

Fertility SA’s specialists will address reproductive nutritional issues and may recommend further supplements and/or lifestyle changes. Couples with specific nutritional issues may be referred to a professional dietician.
