GeneaKinnect

For parents of donor conceived children who have created their families using the same donor.

FertilitySA and Genea have come together to establish GeneaKinnect, a program enabling same-donor families created through our clinics to connect with one another if they so choose. Register your interest in the program below.

Purpose

GeneaKinnect enables parents who have had a child(ren) using donor bank sperm or eggs through FertilitySA to connect with other parents who used the same donor. The primary purpose of this is to enable donor half-siblings to connect with one another.

What happens after you register your interest?

Our counselling team will receive the form and contact you to set up a time to arrange a counselling session with you and your partner if applicable. This can be in person or online. This session is to consider the implications and expectations of sharing information and making contact.

Why do we need counselling?

Choosing to initiate contact with another family requires consideration of many of the varied and complex implications that could follow. It is important to make time and space to consider these with someone equipped to facilitate such a discussion.

Next steps

After the session, you will be able to sign a consent form to have your preferred contact details registered. These can be shared with other families who share the same donor.

When will I hear from other families?

If and when there is a match, you will be notified and receive an email from the counselling team with the agreed contact details of the other family or families. As this is entirely voluntary, it is possible that there will be no matches.

Any contact after this sharing of information will be subject to the wishes of those involved and is not facilitated by FertilitySA.

What if there are problems down the track?

FertilitySA can refer you to external counsellors for further support if necessary. Our counsellors are not able to provide ongoing services.

What are the costs involved?

There is no charge for this service unless your treatment occurred at a non-FertilitySA clinic.
